BARRIERS (NI)
Barriers är ett old-school hardcoreband från Nordirland. Bandet grundades i Belfast 2016 och har efter det gått igenom några medlemsbyten. 2021 släppte Barriers sina första två singlar och 2024 kom EP:n "...Be Still", som bland annat innehöll ett gästinhopp av Shawn Jonas, som var sångare på Zao:s tidiga album och som senare har setts i Symphony In Peril.
Barriers inspiration hämtas från 1990-talets kristna hardcore-våg, den så kallade "Spirit-Filled Hardcore"-scenen, som innefattade band som No Innocent Victim, Strongarm och Focused. Barriers texter är därför starkt präglade av ett kristet budskap.
Utöver spelningar i Nordirland och i Storbrittanien så gjorde Barriers i somras även sitt första USA-besök med en spelning på JCHC-festivalen i Kalifornien där de delade scen med band som Cultist, Sympony In Peril, Officer Negative, Headnoise och Watashi Wa.
Spelningen på Light The Dark blir Barriers första spelning i Sverige och kommer äga rum på festivalens sidoscen.
Barriers is an old-school hardcore band from Northern Ireland. The band was founded in Belfast in 2016 and has since gone through a few member changes. In 2021, the band released their first two singles and in 2024, the EP "...Be Still" was released, which includes a guest appearance by Shawn Jonas, who was the vocalist on Zao's early albums and who was later seen in Symphony In Peril.
Barriers' inspiration comes from the Christian hardcore wave of the 1990s, the so-called "Spirit-Filled Hardcore" scene, that included bands like No Innocent Victim, Strongarm and Focused. Barriers' lyrics are therefore strongly influenced by a Christian message.
In addition to gigs in Northern Ireland and the UK, Barriers also did their first visit to the US this summer with a gig at the JCHC festival in California where they shared the stage with bands such as Cultist, Sympony In Peril, Officer Negative, Headnoise and Watashi Wa.
The gig at Light The Dark will be Barriers' first gig in Sweden and will take place on the festival's side stage.
