SÁWOL (FI)
Sáwols resa började 2005 när grundaren Pekka kände sig tvungen att utforska ett nytt musikaliskt landskap och skapa låtar som gick bortom gränserna för hans andra projekt. Under två år förfinade han konceptet och utvecklade material som smälte samman atmosfärisk death- och doom-metal med djupa reflektioner över livets personliga kamper. År 2010 släppte bandet sitt första fullängdsalbum "Through Soil And Skin" genom Bullroser Records. Efter ett kort uppehåll återvände bandet 2016 med en självbetitlad EP. År 2018 började bandet arbeta med sitt andra fullängdsalbum. Trots förseningar släpptes "Past the Gate" i slutet av 2019, vilket avslöjade en bredare musikalisk palett som introducerade subtila rockinfluenser och utvidgade lyriska teman till filosofiskt och observationsbaserat territorium. När pandemin kom med sina turnérestriktioner vände sig Pekka återigen inåt för att skapa, där Teemu nu bidrog till skrivprocessen. Det resulterande materialet spände över ett spektrum av toner, från de djupaste skuggorna till kanske bandets lättaste och mest mjuka uttryck hittills. Texterna berör filosofiska och existentiella idéer ur ett öppet, inkluderande och universellt perspektiv, och erbjuder utrymme för personlig tolkning, utan att hålla sig till fördefinierade doktriner eller ramverk. Resultatet blev deras tredje fullängdsalbum, "Thresholds of the Unseen", bandets mest ambitiösa projekt hittills. Detta dubbla album presenterades i två delar: "Bok I: Avgrunden, en resa djupt under ytan", och "Bok II: Utvecklingen, ovanför vågorna" och släpptes 2025. Albumet markerar Sáwols utveckling till atmosfärisk mörk rock influerad av death/doom-influenser.

Sáwol’s journey began in 2005 when founding member Pekka felt compelled to explore a new musical landscape, creating songs that went beyond the bounds of his other projects. For two years, he refined the concept and developed material that melded atmospheric death and doom metal with profound reflections on life’s personal struggles. In 2010 the band released their first full-length album “Through Soil And Skin” through Bullroser Records. After a brief hiatus the band returned in 2016 with a self titled EP. In 2018 the band started to work on their second full-length album. Despite delays, “Past the Gate” was released in late 2019, revealing a broader musical palette that introduced subtle rock influences and expanded lyrical themes into philosophical and observational territory. When the pandemic came with its touring restrictions, Pekka once again turned inward to create, with Teemu now contributing to the writing process. The resulting material spanned a spectrum of tones, from the deepest shadows to perhaps the band’s lightest and most mellow expressions yet. The lyrics engage with philosophical and existential ideas from an open, inclusive and universal perspective, offering space for personal interpretation, without adhering to predefined doctrines or frameworks. The result became their third full-length album, “Thresholds of the Unseen”, the band’s most ambitious project yet. This dual album was unveiled in two parts: “Book I: The Abyss, a journey deep below the surface”, and “Book II: The Unfolding, set above the waves” and was released in 2025. The album marks Sáwol’s evolution into atmospheric dark rock infused with death/doom influences.
